Why an escorted tour to Transylvania?
Our escorted tours to Transylvania are organized for small groups. You have a permanent English speaking guide with you and you have most of the expenses included (except for a few meals).
If you like the itinerary of this trip, but the departure dates do not match your schedule, you can always ask us for a personalized version of it.

Bucharest to Sibiu (A legend about liars)
On the first day, the guide will pick you up from the hotel in Bucharest. Be ready to leave so that you can have the group complete on time.
After a journey of about 5 hours, you will reach Sibiu, one of the most beautiful cities in Transylvania. You will have some free time for lunch, and in the afternoon you will enjoy a guided tour through the old centre of Sibiu.
Discover the old town of Sibiu:
The guide will take you through the well-known places in the city and will tell you the medieval legends here, the most beautiful of which is the one about the Bridge of Lies.
In the evening you will be transported to a beautiful village near Sibiu to enjoy the rural charm of Transylvania. Here you will have dinner and check-in at a traditional B&B.

Day 1

Corvin Castle & Alba Iulia Citadel
After a traditional breakfast at the guest house, you will continue exploring Transylvania. The first stop will be in Hunedoara where you will visit one of the most beautiful medieval castles in Europe: Corvin Castle.
Corvin Castle
The Corvin Castle attracts its tourists every year with its tall towers, the suspension bridge at the entrance and the secret rooms and bloody legends. It was a prison for Vlad Tepes, a ballroom for so many gentlemen and ladies, and a film set nowadays.
Alba Iulia citadel
After leisurely exploring the castle you will head back to Marginimea Sibiului. But before that, you will stop in Alba Iulia, a star-shaped citadel dating back to Roman times. The guide will tell you its story and show you the tourist places around. In the afternoon you will have an hour of free time to explore the citadel on your own or to serve a snack or even lunch.
Back at the guest house, you can enjoy a few moments outdoors in the courtyard.
In the evening, another traditional dinner included will delight your taste buds.

Day 2

Biertan Fortified Church and Sighisoara
It’s time to leave Sibiu behind, so pack your things and prepare for other wonders. After a beautiful road through the villages of Transylvania, you will reach Biertan.
Biertan fortified church
Biertan fortified church is the largest fortified church in Transylvania. Visit the small fortress and take a walk in the village. You will see what the word traditional means and how people are still leaving today. Your guide will tell you a famous tale about divorce.
Charming Sighisoara
In the afternoon you will arrive in Sighisoara, a beautiful medieval fortress still inhabited. During the guided tour you will be able to see the defence towers that still stand today, the houses that are hundreds of years old and the narrow streets, paved with cubic stone.
Sighisoara, the romantic citadel, UNESCO Heritage site is one of the most charming places in Transylvania and you will have a whole afternoon to get to know it and enjoy it.
In the evening the guide will take you to a traditional guest house that will host you for that evening. Here, you will serve dinner.

Day 3

Viscri, Transylvanian lunch and Brasov
A Transylvanian village: Viscri
After a delicious breakfast at the guest house, you will head to one of the traditional villages in Transylvania that is still preserved as it was a hundred years ago. Viscri is also one of Prince Charles’ favourite places. Here you will visit the white fortified church and you will enjoy a Transylvanian lunch with traditional food and tuica (traditional Romanian alcohol).
Brasov old town
In the afternoon you will explore another medieval city: Brasov. The guided tour in Brasov will take you through the old city centre, to its medieval fortifications, to the largest Gothic church in Romania, the Black Church and will tell you the sad legend of the boy who is still climbing the roof of the church.
In Brasov, you will have free time for shopping and exploring on your own.
In the evening, the guide will take you to a guesthouse in Rasnov where you will be staying.
Dinner is not included, but you can go out to one of the restaurants in town.

Day 4

Bran castle and a scenic road back to Bucuresti
The 5th day will take you back to Bucharest, but until then some more interesting attractions are waiting for you on the way.
Libearty bear sanctuary in Zarnesti
In the morning, after breakfast, you will leave for Zarnesti to get acquainted with the wildlife of Transylvania. Here you will be able to see how the wild bears saved from various places are taken care of and relearned to live in their natural environment. The bear sanctuary in Zarnesti is an interesting place not only for animal lovers but for all those who want to see the wildlife in nature.
Bran Castle
After that, you will leave for Bran, where you will visit the most famous tourist attraction in Romania: Bran Castle. The story of the vampire Dracula and the history of the Romanian royal family do not seem to have anything in common. But here in Bran, they intertwine harmoniously. The guide will tell you how.
After the tour of the castle, you will go back to Bucharest on one of the most beautiful roads in Romania. It will take you through the Rucar-Bran pass from where you can admire the Bucegi mountains on one side and the Piatra Craiului mountains on the other.
Once in Bucharest, the guide will drop you off at the hotel.

You will arrive in Bucharest at 8-9 PM on the last day. Considering this, it is better to book an extra night in Bucharest after the tour. We can help you with that, but please mention in the booking form (comment area) that you need an extra night.

Since the tour starts at 8 AM on the first day it is better to spend the night before in Bucharest. This way you will be ready on time for departure.
