Highlights
- The muddy volcanoes in Buzau – a natural attraction in Buzau county
- Trovanti – the living stones – a hidden gem in Romania
Trovanti, the living stones
After a journey of about 3 hours through picturesque areas you will reach a village forgotten as if in time: old houses and dirt roads between them.
It’s time to leave the car in the parking lot and start the route through meadows and gardens. It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the top of the hill where you will find what the locals call the living stones or trovanti.
They are spread over a fairly large area and have strange shapes, perfectly round or even UFO. There are several legends circulating about them: that they are alive or even that they are long-forgotten dinosaur eggs.
Driving to Berca
The Berca Mud volcanoes
In the Buzău area there are several places with muddy volcanoes. Some of them give rise to mudslides, while others generate small explosions, completely harmless, but which mimic on a small scale the eruptions of Hawaii volcanoes. During this day trip you can see these eruptions with your own eyes, safely.
In the evening, on your return, your guide will drop you off at your hotel or in another place in Bucharest of your choice.
Another tour that will take you to the Muddy volcanoes is day tour to Unirea salt mine and the volcanoes.
